Message from President
Sir David Akers-Jones, GBM, KBE, CMG, JP
In 1990, I was glad to see the birth of BPF as a pioneer think tank founded in succession to the Group of 89 members of the Basic Law Consultative and Drafting Committee. Since then, our members have been working hard for the stability and prosperity of Hong Kong. Similar to our counterparts in the western democracies, think tanks in Hong Kong have been playing an increasingly important role in the policy making process.
Today, what makes us different from other think tanks is our relatively long and stable history and a wide spectrum of membership; both of which help BPF maintain an edge in our work.
We may not have the resources of some of our brethren in this busy think-tank arena, but at this time of strain for the global economy and the challenges facing our own, there is plenty that BPF can do. Riding on the solid foundation of our two decades of hard work, BPF will continue to keep abreast of the changes and strive for a better Hong Kong.
