In 1990, I was glad to see the birth of BPF as a pioneer think tank founded in succession to the Group of 89 members of the Basic Law Consultative and Drafting Committee.

When most people are pessimistic about future prospects for the US and the Global economy, BPF knows that it is time for us to react proactively and positively to the challenges ahead. We, as a pioneer think tank with the dedicated objective of working for the betterment of Hong Kong, advocates public policy reforms and initiatives which will make things better.

Under the leadership of our President and Chairman, and with members’ active participation, BPF’s contribution to the research and shaping of public policy in Hong Kong has greatly expanded in recent years.

BPF Annual Dinner 2009
Sir David Akers-Jones, President of the BPF, spoke at the Annual Dinner 2009 on "Is there an Elephant in the Room?". He pointed out the issues that Hong Kong should not turn a blind eye to and introduced a BPF research report "Hong Kong 2020 - the Big Picture" which pointed out the way forward.
